In Chinese, “Qi” means life force energy, and “Gong” means work/skill. Therefore, Qigong is the skill of working with life force energy. The purpose of practicing Qigong is to open the circulation of life force energy throughout the body, to cultivate awareness, and to balance one’s faculties of relaxation and concentration. The particular branch of Qigong I am training in, (with Marissa Cranfill of YOQI) is called Qigong Flow, which puts emphasis on cultivating internal and external qi in equal amounts. This style of Qigong is not a new practice, and Qigong in different forms has been practiced to great effect for thousands of years.
Our bodies are natural healers, and according to Qigong and Taosim, all human beings are conduits of Heaven and Earth energies. When we attune to Nature and align our bodies and minds with Source energy, things naturally fall into place. Stress and anxiety are replaced with dynamic relaxation and enthusiasm. We become supple, flexible, lighthearted, and strong in all ways. Qigong is a fantastic path for anyone who wants to experience more balance, inspiration, energy, and joy in their lives. With regular practice and a loving attitude, you are guaranteed to experience tangible benefits through these exercises and inner/outer postures.
In my humble opinion, practicing Qigong is one of the best things a person can do for their wellness. By consciously cultivating your energy, you become an active participant in the state of your energy. You have the power to feel great, experience the forces of Nature from within, and enter into deeper relationship with the Infinite Intelligence.
